Sell auto insurance leads from your quote forms

To sell auto insurance leads, run a car insurance quote form that asks about drivers, vehicles and current coverage, capture consent on every submission, and post each lead in real time to buyers or a broker. Buyers pay for auto leads they can quote at once: complete driver and vehicle details, valid contact data and a consent record.

Summit Leads is now onboarding buyers and suppliers for auto and home insurance leads. Email us with the lines, states and daily volume you want.

This page covers what auto insurance buyers check in a supplied lead, the records they expect, and how routing through a broker works. Summit currently works with web leads (form fills), not calls or live transfers.

What auto insurance buyers look for in a supplied lead

An agent who buys an auto lead wants to prepare a quote before the first call. A lead that answers the rating questions up front is worth more to that agent than one that only has a name and a phone number.

Auto lead details buyers commonly ask for
DetailWhat the buyer uses it for
ZIP code and stateRates and the carriers the agent can quote both depend on location.
Vehicles (year, make, model)Each vehicle is rated separately.
Drivers and age rangesDriver age is one of the main rating factors.
Currently insured, and for how longMany carriers price or accept drivers based on prior coverage.
Accidents and violationsSeparates standard from non-standard drivers.
Coverage level wantedTells the agent whether to quote state minimum or fuller coverage.

Which details a buyer requires, and which filters apply, are agreed between the buyer and the seller. Ask before you build or change your form, because adding a question later changes your conversion rate.

Records that travel with an auto lead

Every auto lead should arrive with a consent certificate: the consent language the driver saw, the time, the IP address and the page URL. Keep the record for as long as buyers or the law may ask for it. Validate the phone number and email before you post, and do not post the same driver twice to the same buyer in a short window.

The full checklist is in auto insurance lead quality. Consent rules for all insurance lines are in insurance lead consent and documentation.

Sell auto insurance leads through a broker

When you sell through a broker, your form posts each lead to the broker as soon as it is submitted. The broker sends a short version without contact details to the auto buyers whose filters match, takes the best response, and delivers the full lead to that buyer. The whole exchange usually takes seconds. See how ping/post works.

Two things decide where an auto lead goes: whether it passes each buyer's filters (state, currently insured, vehicles, drivers) and what each buyer offers for it at that moment. A lead that no buyer accepts is not sold. For how buyers are ordered and priced, see what is a ping tree.

What to send before you start

A broker or buyer can only tell you whether your auto leads fit once it knows how they are made. Your first email should cover:

  • The insurance lines you generate, and whether auto quotes come alone or with home on the same form.
  • Your traffic sources: search ads, social ads, content sites, comparison pages or email to your own list.
  • The consent language on your form, word for word, and how you store each consent certificate.
  • The questions your form asks, in order, and which answers are required.
  • Your daily volume, and how it changes by day of the week.
  • How you post leads today: real time, in batches, or not yet set up.

Send a link to the live form if you can. A buyer reads the form the way a driver does, and spots unclear consent or missing questions quickly.

How auto leads are judged after delivery

Buyers keep checking a source after the first test. They count how many leads they reach by phone, how many they can quote, and how many become policies, and they compare each source with the others they buy from. A source whose contact rate falls, or whose leads come back as returns, is offered less or paused. Watch your own share of leads sold and the reasons given for returns, because they are the first sign that a traffic source or a form change has lowered quality. Returns and payment follow the terms agreed during onboarding.

Auto insurance leads are not MVA leads

If your traffic reaches drivers, you may also see people who were recently in a crash. Those are a different lead with a different buyer: a person asking about legal help after an accident is an MVA lead, bought by personal injury firms. The forms, questions and consent are separate. See selling car accident leads and MVA leads vs auto insurance leads.

Frequently asked questions

What makes an auto insurance lead sellable?

A real driver who asked for a quote, valid contact details, the driver and vehicle answers buyers rate on, and a consent certificate. Fast delivery adds to its value.

Do auto insurance buyers want leads from drivers without current insurance?

Some do and some do not. Buyers that write non-standard drivers often take them; others filter them out. Filters are agreed with each buyer.

Can I sell auto insurance calls to Summit?

No. Summit works with web leads (form fills) only. It does not buy or sell calls or live transfers.

How are auto insurance leads delivered to buyers?

In the industry, most are posted in real time, either by ping/post through a broker or directly to a buyer's system.
