SEO and rank-and-rent sites for MVA and home improvement offers

This page is for site owners: people who run content sites, local service sites or rank-and-rent sites that get organic search traffic for MVA or home improvement topics. That includes rank-and-rent sites that do not have a tenant right now. You link your site to Summit landers. Summit captures consent, routes each lead by ping/post and pays rev share on leads that sell.

What SEO sites are good at for lead offers

A site that ranks brings visitors without a per-click cost. The visitor found your page through a search, so the intent is often close to paid search intent, and it keeps arriving as long as the page holds its position. The cost is up front: time to research, write, build links and wait for rankings.

SEO sites differ from the paid sources in one more way. You control the whole page, so you can answer the reader's questions in depth before you ask them to request help. That suits both verticals: an MVA reader often wants to know what happens after a crash, and a homeowner often wants to compare options before asking for a quote.

  • No media spend per lead. Your cost is building and maintaining the site.
  • Search intent without bidding. Local and question-based pages reach people who are already looking.
  • Assets you keep. A ranking page keeps sending traffic after the work is done, as long as it stays useful and current.
  • A use for empty rank-and-rent sites. A ranked site with no tenant can send its visitors to Summit landers instead of sitting idle.

Types of sites that fit

Rank-and-rent sites without a tenant

A local service site that ranks for roofing, windows or another trade in a city, but has no contractor renting it. Link its calls to action to Summit landers until you find a tenant, or keep it that way.

Local home services sites

Sites built around one trade in one or more cities. See how to build a local home services site.

Legal and accident information sites

Sites that explain what to do after a crash, how injury claims work in general terms, or state traffic rules. See SEO for MVA and legal lead sites.

Existing content sites

Home, DIY, auto or local news sites with pages that match an offer. See how to monetize an existing site with lead offers.

How SEO sites work with Summit

Your site's calls to action link to your Summit tracking link. That can be a button, a banner or a text link on each relevant page. The visitor clicks through to the Summit lander for the offer, and the lead submits there, with consent captured on the lander. Consent language on the lander is not changed or removed. Leads are reported by tracking link.

Use sub IDs to tell your pages apart. Give each page, or each group of pages, its own sub ID value, so your results show which pages produce sold leads. If you run several sites, add the site as a second sub ID. Ask during onboarding which other tracking options apply to your account.

A sub ID plan for a site with several pages
Sub IDExample valueWhat it tells you
Sub ID 1Site nameWhich site sells, if you run more than one
Sub ID 2Page or page groupWhich pages and topics bring sold leads
Sub ID 3Button positionWhether the top, middle or end of the page converts better

Setup steps

  1. 01

    Apply with your sites listed

Include the site URLs, the topics and cities they rank for, and the offers you want to run. Every publisher is reviewed before going live.

  2. 02

    Match pages to offers

Map each page to one offer: a roof replacement page to roofing, a what-to-do-after-a-crash page to car accident. Pages that match one offer clearly sell better than general pages.

  3. 03

    Add calls to action

Place a clear call to action near the top and at the end of each page, linking to your tracking link with the page sub ID.

  4. 04

Remove anything that implies you are the provider

On a rank-and-rent site without a tenant, take down any wording that suggests the site is a local contractor or law firm. Describe it as a service that connects people with providers.

  5. 05

    Add an affiliate disclosure

Tell readers that the site may be compensated when they request help through its links. See the FTC note below.

  6. 06

    Watch sold leads by page

Improve the pages that sell, and rewrite or retarget the ones that bring clicks but no sold leads.

Which offers fit SEO sites

Home improvement is the most common fit for rank-and-rent and local sites, because trade searches are local and many cities have room to rank. Roofing, window replacement, siding and gutters, bathroom remodeling and flooring each suit a city-plus-trade site. The rank-and-rent for home improvement leads guide covers this model.

MVA sites are harder to rank, because legal searches are crowded with law firm sites, but informational pages can rank for questions people ask after a crash. Those pages fit car accident, truck accident, motorcycle accident and rideshare accident offers. In both verticals, the exact qualifying criteria are confirmed with each publisher during onboarding.

Policy notes for SEO sites

There is no ad review on organic traffic, but search engine policies and advertising law still apply to the pages.

MVA pages can also fall under state attorney advertising rules. See attorney advertising rules for MVA traffic and follow our traffic guidelines. This page is not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a rank-and-rent site that has no tenant?

Yes. Rank-and-rent sites without a tenant are part of the approved SEO and sites source. Link the site's calls to action to your Summit tracking link, and remove wording that suggests the site is a local provider.

Do I need to rebuild my site to run Summit offers?

No. You add links or buttons to your Summit tracking link on the pages that match an offer. The form and consent capture are on the Summit lander.

Can I put my own form on my site and send the leads to Summit?

That is a different program. Leads collected on your own forms, with your own consent capture, go through sell your leads. As a publisher, you link to the Summit lander.

How long does SEO traffic take to produce leads?

It depends on the site. An existing site that already ranks can send traffic as soon as the links are live. A new site can take much longer to rank, so many publishers start with sites they already own.
