Oklahoma owner households and recent move-ins

Oklahoma counts 163,478 owner households whose householder moved in during 2020 or later, in table B25038 (ACS 5-year 2020-2024), close to 16 percent of the 1,027,837 owner-occupied units in table B25003 (ACS 5-year 2020-2024).

Buyers watch this group because new owners often replace floors while the rooms are still empty. The Census count covers households, not flooring requests.

Renters occupy the other 534,552 of the state's 1,562,389 occupied units, per the same table B25003 (ACS 5-year 2020-2024). Flooring buyers usually take owners only, since an owner is the one who signs.

Oklahoma housing age and home values

The 1970s built 312,981 of today's Oklahoma housing units, more than any other decade, in table B25034 (ACS 5-year 2020-2024). Measured as a share of all housing, that 1970s band is the fourth largest among the 50 states.

The median value of an owner-occupied Oklahoma home is $199,800 in table B25077 (ACS 5-year 2020-2024). Every decade band appears below, with units from before 1950 added into one row.

Oklahoma law for flooring installers

This section is general information, not legal advice. It summarizes official sources as of October 7, 2026; check the current text of each rule before relying on it.

No state license is needed to run a general contracting business in Oklahoma. The Construction Industries Board's FAQ (checked October 7, 2026) says general contractors are not currently required to hold one; the Board licenses plumbing, electrical and mechanical trades, registers roofers and licenses building and home inspectors.

Carpet is treated differently from other floors in the Home Repair Fraud Act. Section 765.2 of Title 15 defines home repair to include work such as floor bracing and moisture control on a residence, but excludes "the sale, installation, cleaning or repair of carpets", in the Senate copy of Title 15 (May 2022).

Contracts for repairs or alterations to an existing residence may also include a notice-and-repair clause. Under section 765.6, such a clause can require the homeowner to give written notice of a construction defect before suing, and lets the contractor inspect and answer with an offer to repair or pay within 30 days.

Roofing registration, the home solicitation cancellation period and the state telephone solicitation law are explained on leads in Oklahoma.

Choosing Oklahoma flooring leads

A buyer's order for Oklahoma is set with these four fields.

  • Move-in timing: recent purchase or longer ownership.
  • ZIP code: the delivery area, for example the Oklahoma City or Tulsa ZIP codes an installer covers.
  • Material and rooms: carpet, vinyl, laminate, tile or hardwood, and the room count, which helps an installer price the visit.
  • Homeowner status: owners only.
