Nevada wind records and a dry rainfall year
Most Nevada wind reports are not tied to thunderstorms. In NOAA's Storm Events Database, 2025 details file, the state has 214 records with event type High Wind, the label for strong wind that does not come from a thunderstorm, and 62 with event type Thunderstorm Wind. Wind of either kind can loosen siding panels and pull gutters away from the fascia.
Rain is scarce. NOAA's Climate at a Glance statewide series (2025 data) records 9.4 inches of precipitation for Nevada in 2025, compared with an average of 10.19 inches a year over 1991 to 2020, the lowest 1991 to 2020 average of the 49 states the series covers.
Counting method: one Storm Events record stands for one county or forecast zone in one event, so a single windstorm across several zones appears as several records. The precipitation figure is the statewide total for the 12 months ending in December.
Detached homes and young housing in Nevada
Nevada housing is the newest of any state on the median measure. The Census Bureau's table B25035 (ACS 5-year 2020-2024) gives a median year built of 1996, so half of Nevada housing units went up in 1996 or later. A build year field on the request form shows a buyer which side of that midpoint a house falls on.
Single-family detached homes make up 60.4% of Nevada housing units in table B25024 (ACS 5-year 2020-2024). The remaining units are attached houses, apartments in buildings of two or more units, and mobile homes, which the same table lists in their own rows. An owner of a detached house controls the whole exterior, which is why buyers ask about the structure type at intakeIntakeThe process a law firm or its intake team uses to screen a potential client, collect the facts of the accident and injury, and decide whether to take the case. Nevada license classes for siding and gutter work
This section is general information, not legal advice. It summarizes official sources as of October 7, 2026; check the current text of each rule before relying on it.
Siding has its own Nevada license subclassification. Under NAC 624.320 (Board book 2024, read October 7, 2026), classification C-15 covers roofing and siding, and subclassification C-15b covers the installation, alteration and repair of siding made of material such as wood, aluminum, enameled steel, plastic and glass, to make the walls of a structure watertight and weatherproof. A holder of the full C-15 license may do the work of every C-15 subclassification.
Gutters fall under sheet metal. NAC 624.300 in the same book lets a classification C-13 licensee fabricate and install sheet metal, including cornices, flashings, gutters, leaders and downspouts for rainwater. The same list of work appears in subclassification C-1e, under plumbing and heating (NAC 624.190), and in subclassification C-21c, under refrigeration and air-conditioning (NAC 624.380). A buyer that resells to installers can ask which of these classes a client holds before taking gutter requests.
The Board's general license rule, the recovery fund and the door-to-door cancellation rule are covered on leads in Nevada.
Nevada siding and gutter order filters
Buyers in Nevada usually set four filters before a campaign starts.
- Project type: siding repair or full replacement, kept apart from new gutters, gutter repair and downspout work, so each request reaches the matching license class.
- Homeowner status: the owner of the house approves exterior work, so requests from tenants are screened out.
- Recent wind damage: the form records whether a windstorm caused the request, which a buyer can compare with the storm records above.
- ZIP code: buyers choose the ZIP codes their crews reach in the south, the north or both.
Where buyers filter in Nevada
Three metropolitan areas cover most Nevada residents in the Census Bureau's July 1, 2025 estimates. Las Vegas lies in the south, and Reno and Carson City lie close together in the north. A buyer can order ZIP codes in one region, in both, or in rural counties outside the three areas.
- Las Vegas-Henderson-North Las Vegas: 2,407,226 (July 1, 2025 estimate)
- Reno: 578,734 (July 1, 2025 estimate)
- Carson City: 58,571 (July 1, 2025 estimate)
