Nevada storm records for roofing buyers
Nevada had 10 hail records in the NOAA Storm Events Database 2025 file. FEMA's Disaster Declarations Summaries show no Nevada major disaster for severe storms, tornadoes or hurricanes declared from January 1, 2023 through October 7, 2026. The one Nevada declaration in that window, DR-4708 in April 2023, was for severe winter storms and flooding, which this count leaves out.
How the counts work: the hail number is the count of Nevada rows in the 2025 Storm Events file with event type Hail, where each row is one county or forecast zone in one storm. The declaration number counts separate state major disaster (DR) declarations whose incident type or title is a severe storm, tornado or hurricane.
Nevada roofing license class and contract rules
This section is general information, not legal advice. It summarizes official sources as of October 7, 2026; check the current text of each rule before relying on it.
The Nevada State Contractors Board licenses roofing as its own trade. NAC 624.320 (Board handbook, revised 8/2024) sets up classification C-15, Roofing and siding, and its subclassification C-15a covers installing, applying, altering and repairing watertight and weatherproof roof materials such as shingles, tile, slate and photovoltaic roof tiles. A C-15a license does not authorize conduits, inverters, batteries or electrical connections.
For contracts with the owner-occupant of a single-family residence, NRS 624.970 (handbook revised 8/2024) lists required contract contents on and after October 1, 2023, including the license number and its monetary limit. An initial down payment may not exceed $1,000 or 10 percent of the contract price, whichever is less, unless the contractor has filed a consumer protection bond of $100,000 or received Board relief.
The general license requirement, the Residential Recovery Fund and the door-to-door sale rule are summarized on leads in Nevada.
Housing age and owners in Nevada
No state has younger housing. Table B25035 gives Nevada a median year built of 1996, and table B25034 shows 22.0% of units built before 1980, the lowest share of the 50 states (ACS 5-year 2020-2024). Put the other way, nearly four in five Nevada housing units went up in 1980 or later.
Table B25003 counts 721,197 owner-occupied units among 1,202,593 occupied Nevada housing units in the 2020-2024 estimates, so a large minority of households rent.
What Nevada roofing buyers filter on
Nevada filters tie back to the ownership figures and the contract rules above.
- Homeowner status: the first screen, because many occupied units are rented.
- Project type: replacement, repair or roof coating, matched to the age of the home.
- Insurance claim status: recorded at intakeIntakeThe process a law firm or its intake team uses to screen a potential client, collect the facts of the accident and injury, and decide whether to take the case. Glossary, whether or not a claim is open.
- ZIP code: buyers set coverage inside or outside the Las Vegas and Reno areas.
