Desert rainfall and wind in Arizona
Arizona is one of the driest states. NOAA's Climate at a Glance statewide series (2025 data) shows 9.82 inches statewide in 2025 and a 1991 to 2020 normal of 11.65 inches a year, second lowest of the 49 states in the series after Nevada.
Wind is recorded in two categories. In NOAA's Storm Events Database details file for 2025, Arizona has 134 records coded Thunderstorm Wind and 47 coded High Wind, the event type for strong wind that does not come from a thunderstorm.
On the counting: each Storm Events record covers one county or forecast zone for one event, and NOAA's precipitation figure is the statewide total for the 12 months ending in December.

The Registrar of Contractors issues separate residential licenses by trade, and two of them name exterior wall and drainage work. On its license classifications page (checked October 7, 2026), R-45 Sheet Metal covers installing and repairing sheet metal, cornices, flashings, gutters, leaders and pans, among other items. R-36 Plastering covers installing lath and coating surfaces with sand mixtures such as stucco.
Very small jobs can fall outside the licensing chapter. A.R.S. 32-1121(A)(14) (as of 2026) exempts casual or minor work on one project when the aggregate contract price is less than $1,000. The exemption does not apply when the work needs a local building permit or is part of a larger operation split into contracts under $1,000.
