Louisiana claims are fault-based. The Louisiana Department of Insurance guide describes bodily injury liability as covering injury or damage caused by the policyholder, family members and others driving with permission. Louisiana adds a rule of its own, La. R.S. 32:866, known as "No Pay, No Play": an owner or operator who fails to own or maintain compulsory liability security cannot recover a first portion of bodily injury damages and a first portion of property damage, both set in the statute. Insurance status of the caller is therefore a useful field on a Louisiana lead.
Civil Code article 3493.1 provides that delictual actions "are subject to a liberative prescription of two years," running from the day injury or damage is sustained. The article came in with Act 423 of 2024, effective July 1, 2024. Buyers set a maximum accident age that leaves a firm time to investigate before the two years run.
Fault is apportioned under Civil Code article 2323, as amended by Act 15 of 2025, effective January 1, 2026. If the injured person's share of negligence is "equal to or greater than fifty-one percent," that person is not entitled to recover damages; below that, damages are reduced in proportion to the injured person's share. A claimant found exactly half at fault still recovers half. Liability filters (citations, rear-end or not, the other driver's admissions) now decide whether a Louisiana lead has value at all.

Louisiana home improvement leads: 67.4 percent owners and 1983 housing
The Census Bureau puts the Louisiana owner-occupied housing unit rate at 67.4% for 2020-2024, so about two in three households own their home. Homeowner confirmation is the first filter on any Louisiana campaign.

The Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors issues a residential building contractor license for residential construction and home improvement work above a project-size threshold set in the statute, and a separate home improvement registration for renovation, repair and remodeling work on existing homes above its own threshold set in the statute. For sales made at the home, La. R.S. 9:3538 lets the consumer cancel a home solicitation sale until midnight of the third business day after signing.
