MVA and home improvement leads in Montana
Montana had 1,144,694 residents in the Census Bureau estimate for July 1, 2025. Drivers must carry liability insurance, injured people have three years to sue, and a claimant whose negligence is greater than the defendants' recovers nothing. On the home side, Montana moved construction contractors from registration to a state license on January 1, 2026. This page covers what that means for buyers.
Summit Leads supplies home improvement and MVA leads in all U.S. states, including Montana. Buyers set filters down to the ZIP code. Leads are exclusive by default: each lead is sold to one buyer. Shared delivery is available if a buyer asks for it.
Request Montana lead supplyMontana MVA leads: required liability, three years and the comparative fault bar
The Montana Commissioner of Securities and Insurance is blunt: "Every Montana driver is required to carry liability insurance on their vehicle. That's the law." Montana is fault-based, so the injured person claims against the driver who caused the crash and that driver's liability carrier. There is no personal injury protection threshold standing between the claimant and a claim for pain and suffering.
Fault is compared under MCA 27-1-702. Contributory negligence does not bar recovery "if the contributory negligence was not greater than the negligence of the person or the combined negligence of all persons against whom recovery is sought," and damages are reduced in proportion to the claimant's own negligence. A caller whose share of the blame is greater than the defendants' combined share takes nothing, so liability details (who was cited, which vehicle struck which, road and weather conditions on rural highways) carry real weight on a Montana lead.
Timing follows MCA 27-2-204(1): "the period prescribed for the commencement of an action on a liability not founded on an instrument in writing is within 3 years." Subsection (2) sets the same three years for wrongful death, with a longer period when the death results from a homicide. Buyers set a maximum accident age inside that window so their law firm clients have time to work the file.
Sub-types, filters and the quality bar are on the MVA leads and car accident leads pages.
Montana home improvement leads: 69.2 percent owners and the new contractor license
The Census Bureau puts the Montana owner-occupied housing unit rate at 69.2% for 2020-2024, and the median year structure built is 1981 in the ACS 5-year estimates for 2020-2024, so half of the state's housing units were built in 1981 or earlier. Homeowner confirmation screens out the renters, and a housing stock of that age produces roof, window and siding replacement alongside bathroom and flooring work.
Contractor rules changed recently. HB 239, Chapter 644 of the 2025 Laws, repealed the old construction contractor registration sections and transferred the program to a licensing program run by the Department of Labor and Industry, effective January 1, 2026. The department's notice says independent contractors without employees are among those exempt. Buyers that route Montana leads to contractor clients can ask those clients to confirm their license status under the new program.
For in-home sales, MCA 30-14-504 lets the buyer cancel a personal solicitation sale "until midnight of the third business day after the day on which the buyer has signed an agreement or offer to purchase." Contractors who close at the kitchen table should plan installs around that window.
Project types and filters are listed on the home improvement leads and roofing leads pages.
Consent records for Montana leads
Each lead carries its TCPA consent record (opt-in language, timestamp, IP address and page URL), so the record travels with the lead to your system.
Calls and texts to Montana consumers fall under the federal TCPA, and the consent record comes with every lead.
Our guide to state telemarketing laws compares the states that add rules on top of the TCPA.
