Sample solar lead: the standard fields, one by one

This sample solar lead lists what a solar buyer would receive: name, phone and email, the street address with city, state and ZIP code, answers on homeownership, timeframe, project type and credit, and the consent record, plus one complete lead in invented values. Solar leads arrive by real-time ping/post.

Summit Leads sells solar leads by real-time ping/post. Filters and routing are agreed during onboarding.

It is written for solar installers, solar sales organizations, multi-trade home services companies and buying desks that want to see what a solar lead looks like before they contact Summit. The fields below are Summit’s standard home services fields; the solar field specification is shared during onboarding. Field names, formats and which fields are required are confirmed during onboarding.

Fields on a sample solar lead

The tables group the fields by the job they do for a buyer. When a value comes from a solar form question, the "Example" column says where the homeowner’s answer sits instead of showing a value.

Here are the same fields for one made-up homeowner. Answers other than homeownership show FORM_ANSWER, the opt-in text is a placeholder, and the TrustedForm link is an EXAMPLE certificate that does not exist.

Which fields solar buyers filter on

The filters for solar leads are agreed with each buyer during onboarding. The fields a solar buyer would use for that are these:

  • state and zip_code: the states, or ZIP codes within them, where your crews or installation partners work.
  • own_property: owners only, since a renter usually cannot agree to a system on the roof.
  • purchase_time_frame: homeowners ready to move soon, or planned projects as well.
  • project_type: the kind of solar project, with options fixed when the solar form is finished.

Filters are set per campaign during onboarding. The buyer page, solar leads, covers delivery, routing and how to start, and solar lead generation companies explains where solar requests come from.

Solar leads by state

Each state page covers sunlight, small-scale solar already installed, housing, solar contractor licensing and a county table: Alabama solar leads, Alaska solar leads, Arizona solar leads, Arkansas solar leads, California solar leads, Colorado solar leads, Connecticut solar leads, Delaware solar leads, Florida solar leads, Georgia solar leads, Hawaii solar leads, Idaho solar leads, Illinois solar leads, Indiana solar leads, Iowa solar leads, Kansas solar leads, Kentucky solar leads, Louisiana solar leads, Maine solar leads, Maryland solar leads, Massachusetts solar leads, Michigan solar leads, Minnesota solar leads, Mississippi solar leads, Missouri solar leads, Montana solar leads, Nebraska solar leads, Nevada solar leads, New Hampshire solar leads, New Jersey solar leads, New Mexico solar leads, New York solar leads, North Carolina solar leads, North Dakota solar leads, Ohio solar leads, Oklahoma solar leads, Oregon solar leads, Pennsylvania solar leads, Rhode Island solar leads, South Carolina solar leads, South Dakota solar leads, Tennessee solar leads, Texas solar leads, Utah solar leads, Vermont solar leads, Virginia solar leads, Washington solar leads, West Virginia solar leads, Wisconsin solar leads, Wyoming solar leads.

TCPATCPAThe Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the federal law that governs telemarketing calls and texts, autodialers, prerecorded voice messages and the Do Not Call Registry. Glossary consent is captured on every lead, with consent certificates. The consent fields on a Summit home services lead are tcpa_text (the opt-in wording the homeowner saw), ip_address, user_agent and landing_page_url, along with one TrustedForm field and one Jornaya field.

trustedform_cert_url opens the TrustedForm certificate, an independent record of the form session that the buyer can view and store. jornaya_leadid identifies Jornaya’s record of the same submission. The rules these records relate to are explained in TCPA compliance for solar leads and express written consent.

This page is general information, not legal advice. Ask your own counsel whether a consent record supports the way your team calls or texts a homeowner about solar.

More sample leads

The standard fields above also appear on the sample roofing lead, the sample window replacement lead and the sample HVAC lead, and the roofing and window leads add fields of their own. The sample leads hub describes the four parts every lead has.

Frequently asked questions

Why is there no roof orientation or utility bill field on the sample solar lead?

The page shows only the standard home services fields Summit uses on its roofing, bathroom and window leads and adds no solar-only fields. The solar field specification, with any solar-specific fields, is shared during onboarding.

What does the project type field mean on a solar lead?

It holds the homeowner’s answer about the kind of solar project they want. The exact options are fixed when the solar form is finished, so the sample shows FORM_ANSWER.

Does a solar lead come with the full street address?

Yes. The standard home services fields include the street address, city, state and ZIP code of the home, which a solar company needs to look at the roof and the site.

Are the values in the sample solar lead real?

No. They are all invented: the name Jordan Example, a 555-01xx phone number, an example.com email address and a 192.0.2.x IP address.
